Graham Potter is being tipped for a return to Swansea after the Championship club parted ways with Football Manager icon Michael Duff.

The ex-Chelsea coach has been out of work since his miserable seven-month stint at Stamford Bridge came to an end in April and Swans fans want him back at the Swansea.com Stadium, where he spent a successful season prior to his move to Brighton in 2019.

The Welsh club are 18th in the table and are just a few points above the drop zone after winning just five of their first 19 league matches this season. Duff, who was hired in the summer, struggled to get the team clicking and was dismissed following a run of just one win in eight games.

As a player, he enjoyed spells at Cheltenham and Burnley, and Championship Manager (now Football Manager) players will remember him as one of the highest-rated young defenders on the '98 and '99 versions of the game. But that didn't translate into success in south Wales.

Reacting to news of the Norther Irishman's sacking, supporters on social media urged the club to "get Potter" before a club in the Premier League snapped him up. "Doubt he'd come but please get Graham Potter #Swansea," one X user said.

"Duff gone. Graham Potter now please," another wrote. A third added: "Bring him home #Graham Potter," while a fourth said: "Great time to move on Potter as Prem clubs haven't started sacking managers at will yet. Not sure he'd come but worth a shot while there are limited options on the table."

Potter is reportedly biding his time and won't jump back into management unless he feels the project he's joining suits him down to the ground. He rejected an approach from French club Lyon in September, though it's understood he's open to working abroad again.
