Accrington Stanley's cheeky owner Andy Holt has taken shots at Gary Neville over social media after moving his aim from Wrexham.

Holt responded to a video of Neville slamming Manchester United for their current string of poor performances. In the video, Neville fumes at the Red Devils: "I am tired of my own club."

However, Holt then quoted the video on X, formerly known as Twitter, pulling no punches: "Blimey, I thought he meant Salford for a minute!" Neville is one of five members of United's Class of '92, who took over then Non-League Salford in 2014.

Neville was the CEO of Salford until 2022, when he stepped away from the role, and in a statement, he said: "As the club has developed with such pace it needs someone who can concentrate on the club and be there every day, and Nicky [Butt] is the ideal candidate to do this.

“I have enjoyed my eight years and can’t believe how much we have achieved in that time, and how proud I am of the hard work everyone at the club has put in to make a dream we had whilst on a train, turn into a reality."

Holt had taken issue with Wrexham in recent weeks – slamming them as as "out of order" following their ticket spat. Speaking on talkSPORT, Holt fumed: "I’ve got nothing against Wrexham, Hollywood owners and the rest of it.

“But if they think they’re going to get their kicks by tweeting about my club and one of the smallest clubs in the league just because they find themselves in a good space, then it’s not going to work.

“You don’t want any aggro before the match starts. There’s an unwritten rule, you don’t put anything out that inflammatory because you’re trying to keep a lid on it during the match. If they’d done it after the match, I wouldn’t have responded.”
