Simeon Powell may have a lot riding on his PFL Europe final – but for him it's just one step closer to cultivating a legacy.

The 24-year-old, who has an unblemished professional record of 9-0, takes on Jakob Nedoh in the MMA organisation's light-heavyweight final on Friday (December 8) where the prestigious title and a prize fund of $100,000 (£79,000) is at stake.

A win would see 'Smooth' pocket the biggest payday of his career as well as book his place in PFL's global roster where he would have the opportunity to compete in its famed million-dollar tournament.

Powell is just hours away from stepping into the 3Arena in Dublin in what will be the biggest moment of his career. A former apprentice engineer, the Harrow native only handed in his notice after his victory against Mohamed Amine in May earlier this year before committing 100% of his time to MMA.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Sport, Powell said fighting is his destiny before adding: "Yeah, I've always loved it and had a passion for it, that was my dream from the moment I joined a gym and I [know] I'm in the right place."

While the monetary prize in PFL is certainly alluring enough, that's not what drives the Londoner to succeed, instead it's titles and legacy.

"I think I can capture many world titles and be a household name, but the titles are the most important thing to me, when people look at my career and see who I've fought, I want people to say 'this guy is a legend of the game'. He added: "It's a big opportunity, this fight is my 'I'm him' moment, this one will stamp some serious respect on my name and will propel me to the world stage next year."

A victory against Nedoh in Dublin would see Powell bank $100,000 (£79,000) and he admitted that he's thought about what he could do with such a large sum of money.

"I'll be lying if I said I didn't, it'll definitely be a nice little boost to the bank account and set some certain things up to help me elevate in my career and my ambitions."

Powell is among the best talent that MMA in Great Britain has to offer as he sounded off on the state of combat sports in the region. "We've got two [UFC] champions, we've got previous world champions, I think it's a great time to be a part of British MMA," he said.

With a victory on Friday, Powell can add himself to that list of world champions as he continues his rise in the sport.
