Nottingham Forest have banished club captain Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna from first-team training, Mail Sport understands.

Both players have been told to train on different pitches from the rest of first team.

They have also been instructed to report for training at an alternative time to their senior colleagues.

There has been no official explanation as to why the pair have been told to train away from their team-mates but sources have indicated that their removal is not related to any behavioural issues or rows. Forest have been contacted for comment.

However, it is understood both can leave the club when the transfer window re-opens next month.

Worrall and McKenna were both key players for Cooper in their euphoric 2021/22 Championship promotion campaign.

Both players made regular appearances for Forest in their return to Premier League action last term, as Cooper successfully guided the club to top-flight survival.

However, the pair have been used sparingly this season; Worrall has made six Premier League appearances while McKenna has made five.

The development comes with Cooper under major pressure to keep his job at the City Ground.

Forest are on a difficult run of one win in 11 matches, culminating in a 5-0 hammering at Fulham on Wednesday night.

Cooper is expected to take charge of this weekend’s clash versus Wolves, but another loss could spell the end for the popular head coach.
