<\/p>\nEx-England football ace Emile Heskey gives a different moniker in coffee shops – so they don\u2019t shout out \u2018Emily\u2019.<\/p>\n
The former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker has got so fed up at baristas getting it wrong that he uses a middle name instead. Emile, 45, moaned: \u201cWhenever I go into a coffee shop now and they write your name on the cup, I say, \u2018William\u2019 because they\u2019ll inevitably shout out, \u2018Emily\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
The footballer – born Emile William Ivanhoe Heskey – said it\u2019s not the first time he\u2019s suffered trouble with people pronouncing his name. He was called \u2018Emily\u2019 as a contestant on the kids\u2019 show, EMU-TV, with Rod Hull and Emu.<\/p>\n

Emile told FourFourTwo magazine: \u201cAs soon as he gets my name wrong, you can see I\u2019m thinking, \u2018What\u2019s he talking about?\u2019\u201d In his memoir \u2018Even Heskey Scored\u2019, the Leicester-born marksman shared more about his embarrassing telly encounter.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cNot many people know this but in 1989 I took part in the \u2018Emu Challenge\u2019, as part of The Rod and Emu Show on TV. \u201cYou can find the video on YouTube if you really want to. My media agent, Ade Danes, tells anyone who will listen to watch it. Cheers, Ade.<\/p>\n
