Chelsea risk upsetting Mauricio Pochettino by putting academy graduate Conor Gallagher in the shop window at Stamford Bridge. Reports have claimed that the Blues are looking to offload the England international in the January transfer window, despite public pleas made by their manager.

Chelsea have endured a miserable start to the campaign even though they splashed the cash over the summer. The Blues sit in 10th place in the Premier League and are in significant need of investment if they are to challenge for any form of European football.

To the surprise of many, Gallagher has been one of the few shining lights for Pochettino’s side and has justified why his manager was desperate to retain his services over the summer despite the higher powers at the club inviting transfer interest from rival outfits.

The playmaker has been a stalwart for Chelsea this season, with his only absence in the league coming through suspension after he was shown two yellow cards against Brighton. Gallagher’s energy and desire to aggressively press high up the pitch has perfectly matched Pochettino’s style, but his on-field appearances are being ignored at the club.

The ex-Crystal Palace loanee has just 18 months left on his contract with his boyhood side and an extension is not in the works at present.

Everton, Tottenham and Newcastle have shown an interest in Gallagher previously, and Chelsea are hoping that those sides return with serious offers in January. However, selling the playmaker, who has regularly been named Blues skipper this season, could risk upsetting Pochettino.
