ever\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>England batter Harry Brook has been signed by the Delhi Capitals for four crore rupees (around \u00a3380,000) at the Indian Premier League 2024 player mini auction.<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old began his first IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad but will now make the switch to Delhi and was the second player to be auctioned behind West Indies batter Rovman Powell.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Sunrisers paid over \u00a31.3million for Brook but he scored just 190 runs in 11 matches in the 2023 season.<\/p>\n<p>Travis Head, whose brilliant 137 helped Australia win the 50-over World Cup final against host nation India last month, was signed by Sunrisers for 6.8 crore Indian rupees (around \u00a3645,000) in the mini auction.<\/p>\n<p>The 29-year-old left-handed batter returns to the IPL for the first time since 2017, when he played 10 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" Tuesday&#8217;s Indian Premier League auction<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/19\/09\/79119855-12880253-image-a-14_1702978182545.jpg\" height=\"457\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Brook has become a multi-format star for England, featuring in all three teams in the last year<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/19\/09\/79119857-12880253-image-a-12_1702978146874.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The right-hander hit 31 from seven deliveries to seal in interesting fashion, posting a picture of the right-hander with Harry Potter-style scar and glasses, accompanied by the caption: &#8216;We solemnly swear that Harry&#8217;s going to be up to all kinds of good.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>They will be hoping that the batter can inspire a return to the top end of the table to rival the likes of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings after a poor 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With star wicket-keeper-batter Rishabh Pant missing the tournament following a horror car accident, the Capitals were notably below par, despite a bowling attack including the likes of Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As such, following a ninth-place finish in the 10-team league, the Capitals will be hoping that Brook can inspire an upturn in their fortunes, despite a poor season with Sunrisers Hyderabad.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brook broke into the England set up in 2022 but earned himself a late call-up to the Cricket World Cup side that under-performed in autumn this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, not to be perturbed by a poor showing at the tournament, Brook has made strong going for England in the West Indies in a white-ball tour that is going far from smoothly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With scores of 71 and 43 in the first two ODI clashes, he managed just one in the first part of the tour, which ultimately went the way of the hosts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Two more single-figure scores followed in the first two T20s, but a starring role in the third saw Brook spark back to life at the crease.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" fashion, pummeling 31 from seven balls to secure a chase of 233 to win the third T20I, including 21 from the final over.<\/p>\n<p>He partnered centurion Phil Salt, whose 109 came from 56 deliveries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the biggest news of Tuesday&#8217;s Mini Auction, Australia captain Pat Cummins became the most expensive IPL player of all time.<\/p>\n<p>Cummins has joined
