Tom Brady has met with Victor Wembanyama – the San Antonio Spurs rookie taking the NBA by storm and the most hyped Draft first pick in basketball since LeBron James.

Brady brought his oldest son Jack to meet the Frenchman and his friend Michael Rubin – the founder of Fanatics – ahead of Wembanyama’s first appearance at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

The 7ft-4inch Wembanyama, 19, towered over Brady, who himself is no slouch at 6ft-4ins.

The 46-year-old Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl winner in his NFL career and widely regarded as the best quarterback to have ever played the game, was clearly impressed by Wembanyama.

He said of the 19-year-old: ‘Awesome to meet you today Wemby. Incredible young man.

Brady also brought his son Jack along to meet the San Antonio Spurs NBA star

Brady was there with Michael Rubin to meet Wembanyama, 19, and praised the teenager

Wembanyama gifted Michael Rubin a signed jersey from his French team, Metropolitans 92

‘Usually I’d make some joke here about I think I could get 10 and 10 against you but let’s be real… you’d send my jumper into the club level.’

Rubin, meanwhile, shared a picture of Wembanyama presenting him with a signed jersey from his previous team in France – Metropolitans 92.

‘Future goat, goat and munchkin,’ Rubin said, poking fun at himself as at 5ft 8, he is significantly shorter than the NBA player. ‘P.S. thanks Wemby for the incredible jersey.’

Brady commented on Rubin’s post: ‘Thanks for having us! You kept me up past my bedtime… again!’

Wembanyama was the nailed on first pick for this year’s NBA Draft in Brooklyn – described by the Associated Press as the most hyped first pick since LeBron James in 2003 – and went to the Spurs.

And the Lakers star James has made no secret of how impressed he is by Wembanyama’s skillset.

He described the teenager as an ‘alien’ due to his ball handling ability and accuracy form the tree-point range – traits not usually associated with players so tall.

In seven games this season, Wembanyama averages 19.4 points in seven games and the Spurs are 3-4.

Back in New York, the city where Webmbanyama officially made the step to the NBA, he takes to the Madison Square Garden court for the first time on Wednesday to play the Knicks – who are also 3-4.

It remains to be seen if Brady will have a courtside seat for the game.
