Sergio Perez has spoken out about his immediate future with Red Bull claiming that he plans to stay in the sport for another three or four years at least, and has no plans to depart the reigning constructor champions before the end of his contract in 2024.
Checo’s future with the team has been a constant source of discussion throughout the 2023 campaign with the Mexican driver yet to claim a win since scoring his second Grand Prix victory of the season in the fourth round in Azerbaijan.
With five rounds of the season left to go, Checo sits an unprecedented 209 points behind team-mate and three-time world champion Max Verstappen, prompting calls for Red Bull to terminate his contract a year early.

“Well, right now, I have a contract for next year,” Perez responded when asked about his immediate future with Red Bull. “And it will be important to have a good year. I have the motivation to continue and I want to stay for more years because I believe that I still have a lot to give in Formula 1. I would like to stay in F1 for at least three to four more years.”
Unfortunately for Perez, he may not see the end of his current Red Bull contract with many pundits and fans calling for the 33-year-old to be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo, who is set to make his return to the cockpit in Texas this weekend.
One such pundit was 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg, who told the Sky Sports F1 podcast: “F1 fans are relying on him to keep things exciting. In a way, he let F1 fans down because he made it too easy for Verstappen…it’s really, really a tough situation for him. I can really relate.

“He’s having such a difficult time. Qatar was a horrible weekend for him, so bad – with the best car. He really needs to find a way there, and very quickly. How he’s driving now, Red Bull really needs to consider even for next year.
“It’s a real headache they’ve got there. They need two top drivers in the car to score some solid points. Sergio is massively underperforming at the moment for reasons that I struggle to understand. I know that he’s a great driver, so it’s very difficult to understand why he would be so far off.”
