Chelsea are open to a swap deal involving Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe, according to reports. The Blues are claimed to have seen an opening offer for the attacking midfielder rejected by their London rivals.
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to strengthen in attack before Friday’s 11pm deadline. Smith Rowe is one of several players linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
The England international has fallen out of favour at Arsenal having not started a match since May 2022. Chelsea have explored the potential of luring him away from the Emirates this week.
However, the Mail says their first offer has been rebuffed. Arsenal are said to be keen to keep Smith Rowe beyond the end of the window.

It is claimed that Chelsea are willing to include players as part of the deal to sign Smith Rowe. But they are yet to be successful with their advances.
Arsenal do not want to sell the 23-year-old to a direct Premier League rival. The report says only an offer way above market value would be enough to tempt the Gunners into a sale.
Smith Rowe has been an unused substitute for Arsenal’s first three matches of the season. The arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea has seen his route back into the first team blocked further.
He missed much of the first half of last term after undergoing groin surgery. He has been fit for the majority of 2023 but has been unable to catch Mikel Arteta’s eye.

Barcelona duo Ferran Torres and Raphinha are among other names to be linked with a late move to Chelsea. Pochettino is without nine players due to injury, including four attacking stars.
The Argentine confirmed at a press conference on Tuesday that the club are working to bring in new signings. Pochettino said: “I know the club is working very hard to try to finish out business, Something may happen, maybe yes. At the moment, only working and trying the club to deliver what we want.”
Chelsea welcome AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday in the second round of the Carabao Cup before the visit of Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Arsenal are at home to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s surprise 2-2 draw at home to 10-man Fulham.
