Man Utd join Estevao bidding war as Chelsea eye Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri

Seven Man Utd transfers Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants answers for as trio set for January exits

The January transfer window opens in just over a month, but Premier League clubs are already drawing up their plans to ensure that they get off on the right foot in 2024. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all expected to splash the cash this winter, with all three clubs looking to bolster their forward ranks.

Chelsea have forked out over £1billion on transfer fees since Todd Boehly and co arrived at Stamford Bridge, and their spending spree is showing no signs of stopping. Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli star Victor Osimhen are among their targets for January, though reinforcements in defence should not be ruled out either.

Similarly, Liverpool are in the market for at least one defender when the winter window opens. Joel Matip is out of contract at the end of the season and the Reds are keen to sign a younger successor as soon as possible, with Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio consistently being linked with a move to Anfield.

It remains to be seen whether United rival Liverpool for the signature of the Portugal international though, having shortlisted him as a defensive target over the summer. Erik ten Hag is desperate to sign a centre-back and Raphael Varane’s growing unhappiness is becoming a major cause for concern at Old Trafford, with clubs around Europe and in Saudi Arabia now monitoring his situation closely.
