Peter Drury has fans in bits with Neville comment ahead of Liverpool vs Man Utd

Sky Sports commentator Peter Drury left Gary Neville speechless after asking him if he would be "off sick" for Manchester United's trip to Anfield next weekend.

During the commentary of Tottenham Hotspur's 4-1 rout against Newcastle United, Sky Sports advertised next weekend's clash between Manchester United and Liverpool. However, as soon as it popped up on screens across the UK, football fans were met with an "uh oh" from Neville.

That then prompted Drury to respond to Neville's comment with a quick "You off sick?" question, to which the former Man Utd full-back did not respond.

A second added: "Did Peter Drury just ask Neville if he’s off sick for the United game next Sunday?" A third said: "Commentator asking Neville if he's gona be off sick next week haha no answer."

While things looked to be on the up for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, their weekend defeat against Bournemouth once again heaped the pressure upon the Dutchman ahead of a massive week. United were resoundingly beaten 3-0 by the Cherries in a game that saw skipper Bruno Fernandes needlessly booked late which will see him miss the clash against Liverpool.

However, next up is a visit to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich in the Champions League, with United on the brink of exiting Europe all together. Ten Hag and co need to beat the German champions in order to have any hope of qualifying for the knockout stages of Europe's elite competition.

Should they win, and Galatasaray and Copenhagen play out a draw in their clash, then United will advance. However, should one of them win, then United will have to settle for a spot in the Europa League – if they beat Bayern.
