A Champions League fixture between Real Sociedad and Benfica had to be stopped so a medical team could ran across the pitch to reach a fan in need.
Referee Anthony Taylor stopped the action around the 70th minute before a corner. The Brit waved over to let medics rush across pitch to stewards behind the goal. The game was restarted within minutes by the Premier League official as the La Liga side had been leading 3-1 against their Portuguese opponents.
Sociedad had made a blistering start to the game going 2-0 up in the first 11 minutes as ex-Newcastle ace Mikel Merino opened the scoring before Mikel Oyarzabal doubled the Spanish side's lead five minutes later. Merino was denied his second goal of the night after VAR ruled it out but it wasn't long before the home team would add to their tally.

Ander Barrenetxea made it 3-0 in the opening 20 minutes of the game with a stunning goal as he cut in on his right foot before unleashing a powerful strike past Anatolii Trubin. Benfica just couldn't seem to handle Sociedad's pressure who had the opportunity to make 4-0 within 30 minutes with a penalty but Brais Mendez couldn't convert home from 12 yards.
Benfica's Rafa Silva scored minutes into half-time but it was only ever a consolation goal for the Portuguese side who've lost all four games in their Champions League group. The 3-1 victory has placed Sociedad top of Group D as they sit three points ahead of Inter Milan who host FC Salzburg on Wednesday night (November 8).
Taylor's been something of a hot topic in English football as of late after he was demoted to the Championship after awarding a controversial penalty to Newcastle in their 2-2 draw against Wolves last weekend.
